‘The Gold Teeth’ to vie at Tirana filmfest in Albania

Iran-Canada's ‘The Gold Teeth’ is to vie at the Tirana Int’l filmfest in Albania.

Iranian-Canadian short flick ‘The Gold Teeth’ has found its way to the official lineup of the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) in Albania.

Written and directed by Alireza Kazemipour, the 15-minute film is among the works that will go on screen at the Live Action program at the 20th edition of the Albanian event.

A brief synopsis for the flick reads “Sahra, an Afghan refugee in Canada arrives at Iranian ex-dentist, Hamed's doorstep for help to extract her late father's gold teeth before they bury him”.

Although this is the first international appearance for ‘The Gold Teeth’, Alireza Kazemipour has already made a number of successful flicks, including ‘The Blue Bed’, which has toured various global events.

Along with films from Sweden, the US, India, France, Mexico, China and Italy, Iranian short film ‘Unjustified’ directed by Mohammad-Reza Khavari will also be in competition at the same section of the TIFF.

As a scriptwriter, Kazemipour has written scenario for iFilm series ‘The Seamen’, ‘Passenger from India’, ‘It Was an Angel’ and ‘The Sound of Rain’.

Established in 2003, the TIFF is an Oscar and Film Award qualifying cultural event that aims to create a friendly space for cineastes to come together and share experiences.

The 2022 edition of the event will be held on September 24-30.
